GPA Calculator
Add your courses and grades to get your GPA on the 4.0 scale — weighted or unweighted, with an optional cumulative GPA from prior credits.
Uses the standard US 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, B = 3.0…). Weighted mode adds 0.5 for Honors and 1.0 for AP/IB courses. Some schools use different scales or weightings — check your registrar if your transcript differs.
Whether you are checking if you are on track for a scholarship or planning the grades you need this term, this calculator handles both weighted and unweighted GPA and rolls in your prior credits for a running cumulative total. Everything is computed in your browser — nothing is saved or uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is GPA calculated?+
GPA = total quality points ÷ total credits. Each grade maps to points on the 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0…), multiplied by the course credits. Add all the quality points and divide by the total credits. This calculator does it automatically as you type.
What is the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?+
Unweighted GPA caps every course at 4.0 regardless of difficulty. Weighted GPA gives harder classes a bonus — typically +0.5 for Honors and +1.0 for AP or IB — so an A in an AP class can count as 5.0. Turn on the Weighted toggle to add the bonus.
How do I calculate my cumulative GPA?+
Tick "Add prior GPA", enter your existing cumulative GPA and the total credits behind it, then add this term's courses. The calculator blends them by credit weight: (prior GPA × prior credits + term GPA × term credits) ÷ total credits.
What is a good GPA?+
On the 4.0 scale, roughly 3.0 is a B average, 3.5+ is strong, and 3.7–4.0 is excellent. Competitive colleges and scholarships often look for 3.5 and above, but expectations vary by program.
Does this work for college and high school?+
Yes. Use unweighted mode for a straight 4.0-scale college GPA, and weighted mode for a high school GPA that rewards Honors and AP/IB courses.
How do plus and minus grades affect GPA?+
A minus lowers the points (A- = 3.7, B- = 2.7) and a plus raises them (B+ = 3.3). This calculator includes the full +/- scale — pick the exact letter grade from the dropdown.
